The Casino Guide to Las Vegas

Posted On: 02/26/2017

When you think of Las Vegas, you think of casinos. After you take a sightseeing tour, here is a short guide to the casinos you can’t miss, and what you need to know.

Caesars Palace, one of the most iconic casinos in the world, is a great first stop. If you’re not keen to play, it’s worth a visit to take in the spectacular building or watch the gambling action. Other iconic casinos with a classic Vegas atmosphere include the Golden Nugget, the Hard Rock and the Monte Carlo. Lesser known gems include the El Cortez, Orleans casino and Silverton casino. It’s especially hard to avoid the casinos in Vegas when they are in some of the most iconic buildings.

While you can watch from the sidelines, don’t be afraid to participate, if you’re over 18. Here are some key etiquette rules:

  • Don’t be intimidated. Bright lights, security staff, and casino rules would be enough to make anyone nervous. The casinos are for your entertainment, try to enjoy and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
  • That being said, try to learn the rules of the games before you play. Slots, Roulette and Blackjack aren’t as complicated as they look, but save yourself time and prep yourselves on the rules beforehand. There are plenty of expert guides online, and even in the casinos themselves.
  • Tip the dealer. Tip in chips, not cash. This is basic casino etiquette.
  • Practice, practice, practice. The golden rule to any skill. The rules will take time to get used to, so don’t be surprised if you’re not a millionaire after your first game.
  • Set your limits. Know when it’s time to quit and walk away from the table.
  • Check the table minimum. Before you sit down, check out what the lowest amount of money is you can spend on each bet.
  • No phones at the table. This is generally true for all casinos. Having your phone out puts you at risk for being told off by security.
  • Snacks and drinks are free, but keep in mind that staff often work for tips. Also, although drinks are free, drink responsibly.

While these general tips should get you around without a hassle, each casino may have their own individual rules, so keep yourself well-informed during your stay. Bet responsibly, but most importantly, enjoy your time in Vegas! Make the most of your time in Vegas and book your transportation ahead of time with Bell Trans.
